The Outer Banks Bride on Hatteras Island

Do you have certain places in this world that you just love to escape, relax and get away? Do you have favorite spots that you tend to always end up around either on the beach, the park, on your lunch break, your Sunday afternoon or favorite path to jog around town. Well this is one of mine. This spot where you are not allowed to drive by but you would need to take a little hike down the beach to arrive. I never realized just how much I end up here when Buxton (my pup) and I take beach adventures or when my nephew and niece join us…we love coming here. It’s so peaceful, the beach is desolate, it’s a stunning spot for the lighthouse, the dunes are hilly and all you hear is the ocean and the birds.

Recently when I was taking a beach adventure, I was struck with an urgency to photograph a gorgeous Bride here on a day that I felt represents our business the most. Blue skies, puffy white clouds, teal waters, a light wind and a gorgeous sharp light shinning from the sun.

I had contacted Wendi Munden a while back about photographing her in the Wedding dress for a bridal shoot one day so I called her up after looking at the forecast and we picked a day. Oh my goshhhhhh….this day. Was so incredibly dreamy.

We had talked about this for so long now but the weather just seemed to never pan out this past month. It was CRAZY windy for two straight weeks and then we got hit with some much-needed heavy rains for a couple days but then came THIS. This weather. An ideal beach day for me for sure. Baby blue skies, puffy white clouds, a light wind and beautiful greenery. It was so dreamy and I knew this was perfect for the vision I’ve had. I was so smitten over this day that I seriously could not even concentrate or sit inside. I had to be out and about with my camera exploring. I’m so thankful for days like this and friends like Wendi. As a photographer, when you have such a vision come to life, you feel stoked and excited and accomplished. I am excited to share these images with you all and brides and couples to come. I have so many inquiries about having photographs done with the lighthouse and to me, even though it’s a hike and definitely an adventure, it’s worth taking!
